A Diver's Guide To Reef LifeI bought this book based on recommendations found on Amazon and wasn’t disappointed. A Diver’s Guide to Reef Life by Andrea and Antonella Ferrari covers about 1200 tropical species from around the globe.

The different chapters are organised using scientific classification. Each species is listed with one color photograph, it’s distribution, size, habitat and a paragraph on life habits which I found more useful than what other books have to offer.

More than often you will only get the species name and habitat listed, this book is a noteable exception. The authors also include the odd photography tip when it comes to different species, which makes the book more interesting to the underwater photographer, and there is a gallery of the author’s favourite underwater photos by species in the back.

There is also a good introduction into different coral species in the beginning of the book, which is a nice addition over “fish only” books. The index covers both common and scientific names.
