This Unicorn sole (Aesopia cornuta) (kindly identified by my friend & biologist extraordinaire Irene. I owe the scientific classification of all my photos to her) typically inhabits the waters of northern Australia, so I suspect it may be a visitor to Sydney that got washed down the East Australian Current along with the other tropical visitors we observe here during the summer.
Photographed during our weekly night dive in Chowder Bay in 10m depth. Camera settings: Nikon D300, 60mm macro, f/20, 1/500s, ISO 200. I vertically flipped, then rotated this shot about 10 deg. clockwise in post processing and adjusted for levels, saturation and definition. The yellow stripes are enhanced with the foliage filter in Color Efex Pro for Aperture.
