One of my Sydney favourites, Pygmy Leatherjacket (Brachaluteres jacksonianus), very tiny, almost cute looking fish, which loves the mucky bays in the harbour. This is a stock photo from a while back that I rediscovered and decided to edit. The original was a bit washed out, suffering from low visibility on the day. I post processed with a clone stamp against backscatter and adjusted for saturation, then cropped to the subject – nothing special here, the usual treatment. I also added a gradual neutral density filter in the top half to burn the background and adding some depth to the image where the “rear” bits now fade to black.
Camera settings: Nikon D300, 60mm macro, f/16 for 1/250s, ISO 200.
Stay tuned for new posts, I’m going away for a very long long weekend to Queensland, diving the SS Yongala, more on that soon!
