Leather Coral (Sarcophyton) in the shallows, 2m deep, on a grassy patch against the surface with sun rays breaking through. This is always a tricky shot as you have to stop down the aperture on your camera just enough so you get darker details in the water between the points where light breaks on the surface.
If your lens is too wide open, the sunball will burn out in the highlights, if you close it down too far, you lose the necessary brightness at the surface. Unfortunately I have some bubbles from other divers in this shot, but decided to leave them in here, it is very messy to remove from inbetween those light rays and doesn’t disturb that much.
Camera is set to f/13, for 1/60s (default floor for Aperture priority mode). I adjusted the color temperature to a cooler value and used the Foliage Filter in Color Efex Pro to enhance the yellows int he coral. Saturation was also increased by 10%.
