Six-banded Angelfish

A resident Six-banded Angelfish you can reliably find at the SS Yongala on the starboard side, midships in 15-20m. They usually come in pairs.
I find these notoriously difficult to light and compose, mainly because of their dark faces and if they weren’t so pretty I’m sure I would have given up much earlier.

Feather Star

Enough freshwater, here’s the first shot from the actual coral sea :) This was taken at Palm Island, about an hour by boat north-east of Townsville.
Very unusual to find the feather star attached like this in blue water, so great photo opportunity and I also got extremely lucky with the soft coral fans behind [...]

Dead Tree

We found this cylon mothership dead tree at the bottom of Crystal Creek in 5m of water. This was our try dive and there weren’t many fish around so I started experimenting and tried to frame it against the surface, using the distortion of the fisheye lens for dramatic effect.
